Luffa (Sponge)

Typically used to make sponges and scrubbers (after being dried and skinned), the Luffa grows to about 12 to 18 inches long with a 3 to 4 inch diameter.  The surface has shallow furrows, and once mature, the gourd is a grey-green color with flat, black seeds.
